A lot of you will read this in lockdown - please hang in there! I hope that the vaccination take-up will be sufficient to keep the Delta variant at bay. It is impressive to see how fast science responds to the situation. For my taste, the rhetoric from our political leaders should be equally clear.
On a more positive note, our past president, Dr Cathy Foley, took the COVID lemon she was dealt with in organising the 7th IUPAP International Conference on Women in Physics and turned it into a stunning lemonade of a highly accessible online forum where almost 400 participants from all over the world could exchange their experiences and learn from each other. Also in July, the Astronomical Society of Australia held its annual conference and announced the winners of several prizes. Congratulations to all. Read on for more.
