Dear {Contact_First_Name},
We recently reviewed the requirements
for AIP Membership and streamlined the application process. The new wording makes it clear that anyone
with an undergraduate physics degree is eligible, regardless of whether that
degree was obtained in Australia or overseas.
We have
also revised the criteria for election to the grade of AIP Fellow (FAIP) to
provide clearer guidance on the expected standard for this honour. Please
consider nominating eligible colleagues for fellowship. Newly elected Fellows will be recognised at
the AIP Congress in December.
Membership
and Fellowship application information can be found here.
Nominations
are open for the 2025 AIP National Executive.
Planning
for Quantum Year is progressing. Last week we met in Canberra with 30
representatives of embassies, academies, government, universities and others.
Over the next two weeks we have briefings in Melbourne, Sydney, Hobart, and
online, with more to follow. Event details below.
Do you have a great physics-related photo or image? The ACT Branch photography competition is open
to photographers across Australia. Details below.
Success
at the AIP’s first National Careers Fair in May 2024! RMIT undergraduate
student Jarrod Zanardo, studying a BSc Space Science, received an internship
with Cylite Optics and will be working with them for 3 months this year.
Finally,
a reminder that early bird registrations for Congress close 29 August.
Best wishes,
Nicole Bell
